Energy Consumption Analysis Using Measured Data from a Net-Zero Energy Commercial Building in a Cold and Dry Climate

Zero-energy buildings have a critical role in reducing global energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. However, few studies analyzed net-zero commercial using measured such as whole-building level end-use data. This paper presents an consumption analysis for the first building Idaho, U.S., cold dry climate data from this well use. Monthly bill analysis, Energy Use Intensity (EUI) were conducted. The combined of study shows that HVAC system was most sensitive to outside air temperature, showing different percentages 48.4%, 35.1% (the heating period), 21.6% weather-independent 33.4% cooling respectively. Lighting had highest percentage 35.2% period. PV electricity generation higher than use, except December 2017 February 2018, net-positive perspective. calculated EUI 34.2 kWh/m2·y, which can be compared EUIs other net zero buildings. approaches developed useful analyzing several by weather profiles.
